Friedrich Pursh was a botanist who published the first catalog of Northwest American Plants in 1813, featuring 130 new discoveries from the Lewis and Clark Expeditions. Pursh classified and named more than 6 Idaho plants and flowers including the Elegant Mariposa-Lily and Purshʼs Silky Lupine, along with other flowers that can be found growing in gardens across the treasure valley and naturally in the Boise Foothills. Purshia Hills is named after the adventurous spirit and curiosity of those bold enough to explore the unknown and discover the natural beauty in our surroundings.
